One of the three out-of-town wine stars visiting Orlando next week is actually an owner of a winery, not the winemaker – but that’s still cool!
Without further ado, here are the highlights from Orlando’s wine agenda in the coming week.
Orlando’s Week in Wine
Depending on when you’re reading this, you may still have time to make it to one of today’s events – a tasting with Italian Winemaker Marzia Varvaglione at VINIA and a seminar on obscure grape varietals at Luisa’s Cellar.
Sunday (tomorrow), Kevin Fonzo is the guest chef at The Ravenous Pig for a pairing dinner featuring wines from Santa Barbara’s Foxen Vineyards. (I just called and they still have a few seats left.)
Tuesday, Digress Wine hosts back to back events – a happy hour with Foxen’s owner Jenny Dore followed by a tasting with Bordeaux winemaker Jerome Ducasse from Chateau Lagrange in Saint-Julien.
Also on Tuesday, Bulla Gastrobar hosts a pairing dinner featuring wines from Spain’s Ribera and Rueda regions.
Wednesday, Tim’s Orlando welcomes Louis Barroul, owner and winemaker from St. Cosme in the Rhone Valley, while Tim’s in Sanford-Lake Mary holds a class on Madeira.
Thursday is when you get those oysters I promised, with Swirlery’s “Bubbles & Bivalves” event. Plus, Tim’s Lake Mary hosts a free tasting of Italian wines.
Saturday, Luisa’s Cellar kicks off its month-long California series with a tasting featuring wines from Napa Valley.
So yeah, it’s a busy week of wine in O-town! It’s like that for all of February too, so when you check the Calendar Page for details of these events, be sure to look ahead.
Cheers to a multitude of options, Orlando!
